DIY Name Art Ideas: Kids Bedroom Wall Decor
Make this simple name sign and DIY colorful banner, perfect for a nursery or kids bedroom
Well y’all I spiraled…
It happens pretty frequently and yet it shocks me every time it happens.
If you have been following along, we recently swapped Eli’s floor house bed for this super cool vintage bed.

I am loving the new vintage vibe of E’s bedroom but the wall above the bed felt a little empty.
Obviously this needed to be rectified ASAP so I grabbed a canvas and got to work on the easiest DIY name wall art ever!

DIY Canvas Cloth Wall Art

I started by making the name wall art out of a 5×5 canvas drop cloth.
Originally I used Heat N Bond to bring the canvas down to the size I wanted, but then I decided to just cut off the excess fabric.

Next I cut Iron-on vinyl with my Cricut machine, you could also freehand the lettering and use fabric paint (I’m just not talented enough for free hand).
Iron-on vinyl is applied with, you guessed it, an iron on medium heat.
I loved how the name sign tuned out but the wall was still looking a little plain and I thought a DIY colorful flag banner would would be perfect!
Colorful Flag Banner

The best part of this banner is that is was absolutely free to make!
I cut out flag shapes from the left over canvas drop cloth and also from some scrap buffalo check fabric I had lying around.

To add a little color to the flags I spray painted them in dark blue, burgundy, burnt orange, & green spray paint.
These colors felt perfect for the vintage color scheme I am trying to achieve in his room.

After the flags dried I attached them to thick rope with hot glue, you could also use ribbon or twin.
DIY Kids Bedroom Wall Art

This portion of Eli’s room finally feels complete!
The name sign and banner add character to the space and bring in some of that vintage style I am trying to incorporate.

Usually I am not for personalized name decor but I think when it’s done right you can escape the cheesy factor.
Eli’s room is almost complete, next on the list will be tackling his walk-in closet…

Creating home is never ending and that’s why I love quick projects like this!

Let me know what you think of his new wall art and any questions you might have.
